Crested Butte resort real estate has never been as good a buy as it is now.
It is obvious that buyers are agreeing with that as we are seeing many sales this month and at prices not seen in many, many years.
And here’s why: with inflation looming and very few investments looking attractive people are coming back to real estate.
Over the long term, real estate has always been a good investment. Do you remember the home you or your parents bought for $8,000 or maybe $30,000 back in the 60’s or 70’s. Today, those same properties are worth $500,000 or even over a million. Meanwhile, these homes have seen families grow and enjoyed years of holidays and parties and family dinners and time in the garden … you name it. While increasing in monetary value, our homes have added to our lives with priceless memories.
So, next time you’re thinking of investing your hard-earned money, think about the benefits of real estate. Especially in a beautiful place like Crested Butte, where you and your family and friends can enjoy years of winters and summers. It sure beats trying to spend two weeks with your bond portfolio, no?
I’m happy to help you explore the possibilities of your own retreat in Crested Butte. Whether you’d like to build that rustic log cabin, enjoy slopeside living, a home in the most charming Western town from which you can walk or bike to hiking, restaurants and farmers’ markets … there are endless possibilities to invest in your life and earn a good return at the same time. I am here to help you live the dream.

Real estate overall is a bit of a mixed bag. If you’re a seller, well, prices have come down and if you don’t have a compelling reason to sell, hang on. It may be while before we see prices go up again, but who can argue with enjoying your beautiful property in Crested Butte?
As a buyer, the story is much better. There is one common theme throughout the country and that is that it is a good time to buy. Crested Butte real estate is going to have new “green” guidelines soon if the recommendation made by the Gunnison County Planning Commission gets the go-ahead. The goal is to become “carbob-neutral” which means that there can be “no net contribution into the atmosphere of carbon dioxide or other gases that when emitted into the atmosphere trap heat”. One way to accomplish this “net” effect can be to “buy carbon offsets or reduce the amount of carbon dioxide equivalent in the atmosphere generated from their project in another way.”
Although this may be difficult and sometims costly, I applaud our efforts to reduce our effect on our atmosphere for our health and future generations. I’m sure this is only the beginning.
If you’re a builder who knows “green” or “carbon neutral” construction, I welcome you to comment with some helpful information on this blog. This is a good thing we’re doing … and one of the reasons why Crested Butte is such a desirable place for full time residents and second-homeowners both. We love our mountains, streams, clean air and quality of life!
